Quick outing to clear the head before work.

frost-1

Had to clear the windscreen first though!

frost-5

First light is much easier to catch in the winter.

frost-6

Everything always seems very calm when the fog lies in the forest.

frost-2

…it was disappearing as the sun came up though.

frost-3

By the time I got to where I wanted to shoot, it was pretty much gone.

Looking across Loch Achray to the former Trossachs Hotel – seems a shame it’s a timeshare resort now…

Tried a number of different compositions:

Thought this deserved one more shot in the morning sunshine.

autumn_walk-16

Bit of foreground interest?  Not sure if it works here…

Took a quick walk up Craigmore on Sunday.  As we crested the little summit mound Ben Lomond crept into view.  It looked like someone had dipped it into emulsion.

autumn_walk-5

A hail shower quickly blew in from the west as we made to descend – gicing the sky some drama.

The larch in the wood on the side of Limecraig are still holding their needles giving a nice contrast in the blue green of the Spruce and Douglas.

autumn_walk-7Had to run back down the hill to avoid the rain.

Looked up at the Beech in the garden just as we got out the car and thought it was worth capturing.  This was shot on the tripod (camera was still attached) and is close to a 10sec exposure  as it was getting dark – I quite like the motion blurred leaves in the foreground…

Out for a walk at the end of last week – first real frost of the year. Came around past lochend cottage and was greeted with this nice little atmospheric view…

misty-1

As I walked along the forest road a little, the sun popped above the tree tops and illuminated the fog.
misty-5

Tough to get a decent light meter reading. Ended up underexposing to try and hold detail in the fog and subsequently things got a little grainy in the shadows once I brought them up in the balance.

misty-3

About 15 minutes later (on the way back to the car), with the light hitting the trees behind the house, the autumn colours started to pop.

Some shots from our Autumn break in Diabeg, Torridon (Ross-shire)

Weather was typically wild and unpredictable, which made for some breath taking light…

Had a great time.

Bealach-na-ba

The view from the summit of the road to Applecross.

Redpoint_bathtubs

Some bathtubs in a field, miles from anywhere.

Diabeg

The trig’ point on the top of the little hill behind our cottage.

beinn-alligin

A gap in the clouds between rain showers produced this great light.
